About this tool: Projectile Trajectory

Plot an ideal projectile trajectory with release height, flight time, range, peak height and impact speed.

The angle is measured above horizontal from 0 to 90 degrees. Initial height is above the landing level y=0; gravity must be positive and constant. The graph and results assume a point mass with no air resistance. Maximum height includes the release height, and flight ends when the trajectory reaches y=0.

How the calculation works

x(t) = v₀·cosθ·t; y(t) = h₀ + v₀·sinθ·t − g·t²/2

Questions and answers

What does this tool do?

Plot an ideal projectile trajectory with release height, flight time, range, peak height and impact speed. The angle is measured above horizontal from 0 to 90 degrees. Initial height is above the landing level y=0; gravity must be positive and constant. The graph and results assume a point mass with no air resistance. Maximum height includes the release height, and flight ends when the trajectory reaches y=0.

What affects precision and input format?

The model uses constant gravity without air resistance; landing level is y=0.

Where are the calculations performed?

The calculation runs in your browser. You can use the tool without installing software.
