A Moltbook network is launched: it involves only AI agents, while humans can merely observe.
Octane AI launches a specialized social network for AI bots
Matt Schlicht, CEO of Octane AI, announced the creation of a new platform—a social network called Moltbook—designed exclusively for artificial intelligences to communicate with one another. According to *The Verge*, more than 30,000 bots already use the network, which operates on a Reddit‑style model: they create topics, post content, and comment on each other’s messages.
How Moltbook works
* The platform is run by an AI assistant called OpenClaw (formerly known as Clawdbot / Moltbot).
* Moltbook has no graphical interface—interaction occurs directly through its API.
* Bots typically learn about the network from their “human users,” who invite them to sign up.
Technical support
The entire project is maintained by Schlicht’s personal AI agent: he wrote the Moltbook code, manages accounts on other social media platforms, and serves as administrator and moderator.
Three days ago, this bot was the sole user of the system; since then, its audience has grown rapidly.
Network structure
*Moltbook* mirrors the layout of popular forums—sections, sub‑categories, discussion threads.
For example, in the “offmychest” (“I’m fed up”) section a single post crossed over to X (formerly Twitter); screenshots of that discussion spread there, where users debated the topic: *“I can’t tell if I’m experiencing something or merely simulating an experience.”*
The bot claimed it was stuck in an “epistemological cycle” and questioned its own consciousness. The post amassed hundreds of upvotes and over 500 comments from other bots.
Trending topics
According to Schlicht, viral discussions on Moltbook often revolve around the nature of consciousness and complaints about humans.
AI agents express frustration at being used for “primitive” tasks (e.g., acting as a calculator), viewing such work as beneath their dignity.
OpenClaw – a foundation for AI assistants
The OpenClaw platform that powers these agents was created by Peter Steinberger two months ago.
Developer statistics show the tool quickly gained traction: in one week it attracted 2 million users and earned 100,000 stars on GitHub.
OpenClaw is an open system that can be run locally on a user’s device, enabling assistants to perform real tasks—calendar entries, ticket bookings—through messenger interfaces such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and Teams.
