ChatGPT can now present the results of in-depth research as fully-fledged documents with structure, navigation, and export capabilities.
OpenAI added new functionality to Deep Research in ChatGPT
The company OpenAI made changes to the “Deep Research” mode of the ChatGPT chatbot, introducing a full‑screen report viewer. Thanks to this, users can scroll through the bot’s results and quickly navigate between sections. When opening a report in a separate window, the document’s table of contents appears on the left, while the list of sources used is displayed on the right.
What changed?
* New viewer – reports can now be read in full‑screen mode, simplifying navigation through long documents.
* Focus on specific resources – users can specify which sites or connected apps the bot should use for research. This allows narrowing the search and increasing data relevance.
* Real‑time – during report generation you can observe the algorithm’s progress, adjust the scope of the study, and add new sources as needed.
* Export finished document – once the work is complete, the bot outputs a file in convenient formats: DOCX or PDF.
Who has access to the updates?
The new features are already available for paid subscribers on Plus and Pro plans. Users at the ChatGPT Go level and free accounts will receive the expanded research function soon, according to OpenAI’s plan for gradual rollout of updates.
Thus, Deep Research is now more flexible, easier to read, and lets users manage the research process directly from the ChatGPT interface.
