Google Unveils New Features for the Desktop Version of Chrome

The company announced three new capabilities that will make working in the browser more convenient and productive:

1. Split Screen

2. PDF Annotation

3. Save PDFs Directly to Google Drive

All of them will appear in Chrome 145.

1. Split Screen
- Allows you to open two tabs side by side, reducing the “fatigue” from constantly switching.
- To activate it, simply right‑click a link and choose “Open link in split window.”
- After that, a dual‑panel interface opens below the address bar.
* The URL in the address bar automatically changes depending on the active tab.
* A split‑screen icon appears to the right of the address with options “Split,” “Close,” and “Swap.”
- You can adjust the width of the panels by dragging the central divider.

This feature will be useful, for example, when you need to watch a video and take notes at the same time or run a video conference next to a document.

2. PDF Annotation
Chrome now supports simple markup within its built‑in viewer:
- Highlight the desired text → click the “Annotation” icon in the top bar.
- A menu appears on the right where you can choose font size and color.
- This eliminates the need to download the file and open it in a third‑party app.

3. Save PDFs to Google Drive
A new option, “Save to Google Drive,” has appeared in the same top bar:
- Select the account where you want to upload the file.
- The file is automatically placed in the folder “Saved from Chrome,” which is created in the cloud.

These three innovations will make browser work more flexible and help you quickly tackle tasks without unnecessary switching between applications.
