Microsoft launches a new AI tool called Restyle for OneDrive

Microsoft announced the launch of its new AI tool, AI Restyle, which is integrated into the cloud service OneDrive. With it, users can transform photos while preserving all key details of the image and avoiding typical distortions common to many neural networks.

What does AI Restyle do?
* Photo transformation – you can change a photo into any artistic style: from anime aesthetics to movie posters.

* Original preservation – the technology is specifically designed so that key objects (people, places, etc.) remain recognizable but are displayed in a new visual context.

* Flexible customization – users can choose from a constantly updated set of one‑click styles or refine the result with text prompts.

Where is it available?
AI Restyle is deployed in OneDrive apps for iOS, Android and the web version of the service. However, its use is only possible with a Microsoft 365 Premium subscription (starting at $20/month, ≈ 1600 rubles).

Regional availability
Because the rollout is phased, the feature’s availability may differ across countries.

Why “Copilot” isn’t mentioned
In Microsoft’s official blog, the name Copilot is completely absent. This decision stems from negative user reactions to aggressive promotion of AI features under that brand in Windows 11, which led to buzz and even the nickname “Microslop.” Afterward, the company replaced leaders of the Copilot division and announced cuts to unnecessary AI components in the operating system. Despite this, the Copilot brand still exists in certain products, such as Copilot Health.

Thus, Microsoft introduces the new AI Restyle tool as part of its strategy to improve the OneDrive user experience while distancing itself from public attention on the Copilot brand.
