Take‑Two refuted speculation about postponing the release of GTA VI in the market and announced the start date for its advertising campaign.
Take‑Two Interactive does not confirm a new delay for GTA VI
In its third‑quarter 2026 report, Take‑Two Interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games, rejected the idea of further postponing the long‑awaited open‑world crime shooter Grand Theft Auto VI.
What had been planned so far
- Initially the game was slated to release last fall.
- The first release date was moved to May 26, 2026, and then again to November 19, 2026 (a six‑month delay).
- The launch is officially announced only for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As stated by the CEO
Take‑Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnik confirmed in his address that November 19 remains the current date. He announced a marketing campaign starting this summer and categorically refuted rumors of a postponement “to prevent leaks.”
> “We have no such plans,” said Zelnik in a Variety interview, adding:
> “We look with great confidence at 2027, which promises to be a breakthrough year for Take‑Two and the entire entertainment industry, and Grand Theft Auto VI will be one of its flagship events.”
When asked by IGN, the CEO reiterated his certainty:
> “I am confident in the date. Extremely confident.”
Nevertheless, his statements do not guarantee that no further changes will occur.
What players can expect
- The game’s events take place in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida.
- Players assume the roles of criminals Jason and Lucia.
- Rockstar promises “the biggest and most realistic world” in the series’ history.
Thus, there are currently no new delays: GTA VI is set to release on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Keep an eye on updates—any changes will be announced in advance.
