The short film about Resident Evil Requiem surpassed most films in terms of RE and captured fans.
Capcom Heightens Expectations for the New Resident Evil Requiem
The Japanese publisher‑developer released a short film that adds a new layer to the already living world of Resident Evil. The clip titled “Evil Has Always Had a Name” runs just three minutes and reveals the story of Raccoon City residents in 1998.
Synopsis
In September of that year, the T‑virus erupts in the city. Mother, played by Maika Monroe—star of films such as *It Comes for You* and *Soul Collector*—along with her daughter try to survive among ordinary zombies and “slithers.” Despite their efforts, the ending remains bleak: the daughter does not survive the apocalypse, and the mother turns into a walking dead. However, she still holds a photograph of her child, showing remnants of human memory.
Reviews
Users note the high level of cinematography and acting. One commenter on the ResetEra forum wrote, “Better than most RE films.” This indicates that even the short production was able to touch fans’ hearts.
What’s Next in the Game
In Resident Evil Requiem, zombies will retain some human traits. For example, the cook will be obsessed with cooking, the vocalist will constantly sing, and the cleaner will endlessly polish mirrors.
Release Date and Availability
The game will launch on February 27 on:
- PC (Steam, EGS)
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X/S
- Nintendo Switch 2
It is expected to blend horror and action, featuring two main protagonists—Grace and Leon, full Russian translation, ray‑tracing, and DLSS 4 support.
Thus, Capcom not only keeps fans on edge but also adds new emotional layers to the already rich Resident Evil universe.
