New Features in Windows 11 for High‑Frequency Monitors

In the latest releases of Windows 11 available through the *Windows Insider* program, Microsoft has introduced a small but useful update.

* Support for refresh rates above 1000 Hz

In Release Preview builds 26100.8106 and 26200.8106, the operating system now recognizes monitors with a refresh rate higher than 1000 Hz.

* Precise handling of DisplayID

Through the WMI‑API, screen size is determined more accurately, improving display compatibility. This change enhances HDR stability on monitors with incompatible DisplayID 2.0 blocks, fixes issues when waking from sleep, and allows USB controllers to use low‑power mode if the signal is transmitted via a USB4 port.

A Brief Overview of the High‑Frequency Monitor Market

At present, only a limited number of monitors worldwide support 1000 Hz or higher. Most are sold exclusively in China:

ModelDiagonalModes
Philips Evnia 27M2N5500XD27″2560×1440 @ 540 Hz / 1280×720 @ 1000 Hz
AOC AGON Pro AGP277QK27″2560×1440 @ 540 Hz / 1280×720 @ 1000 Hz

Both models are marketed as dual‑mode esports monitors.

Additional Improvements in Windows 11

* Settings → System → About – the interface has been updated and the Settings Home page loads faster.
* File Explorer received fixes, including a more reliable preview of files from the internet.
* Bugs with Windows Hello, Voice Access, and launching the taskbar in Safe Mode have been fixed.
* Smart App Control (SAC) can now be toggled on or off without reinstalling the system via Settings → Windows Security → App & Browser Control → Intelligent App Management. When enabled, SAC blocks untrusted or potentially dangerous programs.

Thus, the new Windows 11 builds make working with high‑frequency monitors more stable and expand security and usability features of the system.
